Random Ramblings

Drove down 10th North this morning and noticed all of the college students all scrubbed and bright-eyed heading for campus. Those bright-eyes will dim as their backpacks become heavier.

Dustin did his math homework yesterday as soon as he got home. I'm sure hoping that motivation will last, but alas, my hope is without faith.

I am living in denial that Summer will soon be coming to an end. 

My "to do" list is really not very enticing.

Nor is my "projects" list.

I do not have a fondness for yard work. Although I do love Summer the MOST, I do not love the outside work that travels with it.

My "clean everything unnecessary thing out of the house" fire is beginning to fizzle. 

Greg and Dustin are glad that they are not on my unnecessary items list:)

Why is it that birthdays and anniversaries become more of a pain than an exciting event the older you get? And I'm not talking old age aches and pains, although those are a contributing factor!

I just canceled our home phone. 

I'm blogging instead of ironing:)

Why, when drying sheets, do they always roll into a huge ball, thus hindering the drying process?

If I could find the cord to download pictures from my camera (someone BORROWED it and has not returned it) I would show some of the projects that I have FINALLY finished.

 

 

 

Guard your stuff!

I've dropped three loads at the DI in the last four days. Couldn't take anything yesterday - it was Sunday:)

Look who came to play!

 

Addie and Andy (and their mommies) stayed after the wedding festivities for a week to play with grandma!

I took all four to the airport Friday morning. 

I pretty much wept all the way home, which gets a little tricky on the freeway. Don't judge me too harshly. You'd be a puddle of emotion, too, if you had to watch these little rolls of sweetness walk away from you through airport security!

And then there were TWELVE!!

Last Saturday was beautiful and bright!  Had it not been a sunny day, I think our smiles and cheerful demeanors would have lighted the world around us!

Chase Cummings Hicken & Yeon Mi Kim tied the knot for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.  Their sealer was Elder Choi of the First Quorum of the Seventy, who is a dear friend of Yeon Mi's dad.  It was a tender and special day!

No offense to the "out-law" children of mine, but there is just something that warms my heart when I see all five of my sweet darlings together :)

 

Dishes anyone?

For the past several years I have been on the hunt for new every day dishes. Although our trusty old Correlle dishes are still in fine working order, they are the SAME Correlle dishes we have had FOREVER! At least it seems like forever! Those of you who read my blog who used to babysit my now grown children when they were not grown - yup - same dishes. Yawn!

The other day while searching for a few pillows for the breakfast nook, I saw them!  The dishes of my dreams! Bright! Fun! And wouldn't food simply taste better on dishes like that?! It would be a fiesta in your mouth! What a coincidence! The dishes are named Fiesta! 

Yes, these babies jumped right into my cart and are now safely stacked in my cupboard! 

Don't despair over the old Correlle losing it's place of prominence in our daily living experience.  Melanie will be taking them to her college apartment where they are sure to be enjoyed by many starving students.

Farewell Correlle! It's been nice knowing you!

National S'more Day!

Today, I intend to eat at least FOUR of the scrumptious, delightful treats.

Why four?

Because in the eating of four, you have only actually consumed ONE candy bar! 

My children know that this is one of my most favorite treats. All of the ingredients for these treats can always be found in my cupboard. And although we do have a fire pit for the roasting of marshmallows, it is not necessary to the perfect s'more. All you really need is a microwave and 20 seconds of time.

Hmmm.  Yes, I do believe I have an extra 20 seconds right now!

The nurses at our hospital have a funny sense of humor.

Weird.

But still, 

HILARIOUS!!

Magic House?

We have a magic house.

Really.

We have this dishwasher that magically does the dishes!

We also have a magic pantry!

Food just magically appears neatly organized on it's shelves!

In the laundry room lives a magical washing machine! Can you believe that somehow that washing machine magically gathers all of the dirty clothing in the house and washes, dries, AND folds the clothes! Wow!

We even have a magical self cleaning floor! Simply amazing!

Weird, however, that the magic seems to ebb and flow with MY arrival and departure from the house.

So maybe, just maybe, it's ME that is magical! Move over Harry Potter! The Mom is taking over as top wizard!
